Square Enix to make more HD-2D games like Octopath Traveler

The success of Octopath Traveler on the Nintendo Switch ask Square Enix to make more JRPG driven by single players for the platform. But the latest trademarks to effectively mean these new games must have graphics like SNES as well as a turn-based Switch RPG.

According to GematsuSquare Enix coined the term HD-2D to describe the Octopath Traveler's old school visual talent. Now Square Enix is ‚Äč‚Äčlikely to use a trademark as an umbrella term that can be recognized instantly for upcoming games, maybe kicking a new but old-looking turn-based JRPG galaxy.
