LANDOVER, Md. – Alex Smith, quarterback of the Washington Redskins, suffered an injury to his right ankle where he had to leave Camilla del Campo during the third quarter of the match against the Houston Texans.
The injury was severe enough for players from both teams to kneel while Smith lay on the floor to be treated. When he was placed on a stretcher, all Redskins players approached the passer, as did most Texas players from their bench.
While leaving the field, Smith welcomed the fans and joined his palm in a prayer position.
Smith suffered an injury during the Texas defense J.J. Watt and Kareem Jackson caught him with 7:43 to play in the third period.
The Redskins only had one more quarterback on their list, Colt McCoy, who threw bait goals in the team's next attack and replaced Smith.

In a tweet, former quarterback Redskins Joe Theismann, who attended the match, recalled that Smith suffered an injury on the same date 33 years ago, on November 18, 1985, he himself suffered a broken leg. when he was handled by Lawrence Taylor in the Monday night match against the New York Giants.
Theismann was 35 years old at the time and that action marked the end of his career.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also posted a tweet where he expressed his best concerns and hopes for Smith, including he was a reserve in 2017.
