Furia del Libro revealed the names of the authors who will participate in the new version, which will be held at Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center between December 13 and 16.
This year, in the context of the literary exhibition, the "Latin American Dialogue" meeting will take place. On this occasion, the activity will be given a title Feel the continent with words. This event will be attended by twelve recognized authors.
Argentine Edgardo Cozarinsky, María Sonia Cristoff, Selva Almada, Damián Tabarovsky, Daniel Link, Patricio Pron, J.P. Zooey, Salvador Horacio Castellanos Moya, Esteban Mayorga from Ecuador, Mexican Fernanda Melchor, and Insel Bortsagaray and Horacio Cavallo from Uruguay, will be guests for this event, where they will participate in lectures, reading and signing books.
In addition to participating in "Latin American Dialogue", all authors will share their new editorials, which have been published or in preparation. For example, Edgardo Cozarinsky, who recently won the Hispanic-American Short Story Award Gabriel García Márquez, will present his book Orphans and documentary Letter for a father; Uruguayan writer Inés Bortagaray, Jury Special Prize at the 2016 Sundance Festival for the scenario My friend from the park, will launch the book Getting ready,; Almada Selva, translated into seven languages by A devastating wind (2012), will present this book published in Chile last year; and J.P. Zooey will launch an unpublished book Handle with Chilean publishers. Daniel Link, Esteban Mayorga and María Sonia Cristoff will also present their new books at La Furia.
With nine years on the map, La Furia del Libro has succeeded in positioning Chile as an independent publishing capital in Latin America: not only is it the oldest event of this type and with the highest number of audiences for each edition, but more concentrated on the largest number of international publishers participating. This year the figure was recorded, with 48 Latin American publishers from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
Among the local proposals will be a number of important Chilean writers who have set standards in recent years, such as Alejandra Costamagna (finalist of Herralde Prize of 2018 novels and MOL winners for best unpublished novels), Lina Meruane, Andrea Jeftanovic, Camila Gutiérrez, Natalia In Nicaragua, Camila Valenzuela León, Claudia Andrade, Gladys González, Paula Ilabaca, Karina Cocq, Lyuba Yez and Sol Díaz, among others. In addition, the inauguration will feature poetic readings by Elvira Hernández, Iberoamerican Poetry Prize Pablo Neruda 2018.
