Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Following the Prince William and Kate Middleton Christmas Traditions

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided not to spend the Christmas holidays with the royal family and will instead spend it with Markle's mother, Doria Ragland. The Sussexes have come under fire from some critics who think they have abused Queen Elizabeth but it turns out Prince William and Kate Middleton have not attended the queen's Christmas celebrations in the past.

The palace confirmed their Christmas plans

After various outlets reported that the couple would not attend Queen Elizabeth's annual Christmas celebration at Sandringham, Buckingham Palace confirmed it in a statement to People: "Duke and Duchess of Sussex are waiting for extended family time towards the end of this month. After spending the last two Christmas at Sandringham, His Majesty will spend this year's vacation, as a new family, with Duchess's mother, Doria Ragland. "

The statement further explained: "This decision is in line
with precedents set earlier by other members of the Royal Family, and possessing
support Her Highness the Queen. "

Prince William and Middleton chose to leave the kingdom

The statement said "precedents set earlier by other members of the royal family," which referred to Prince William and Middleton spending time with the Middleton family rather than staying with the queen at Sandringham during last Christmas.

Royal expert Kate Williams discussed the issue with Sky News, sharing: "Harry and Meghan will live with Doria as opposed to staying with the Queen at Sandringham. And it's really interesting to me that this is a very big story. Because, of course, William and Kate have repeatedly stayed with the Middleton family over Christmas and not with the Queen. "

He added: "They made that decision for family time. We already
also saw Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall doing it too. So I had enough
surprising that it was like a royal disaster when Harry and Meghan did it
exactly what Kate and William did themselves. "

This morning, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was baptized in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle in an intimate service that was inaugurated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very happy to share the joy of today with members of the community who have been very supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first child and celebrating this special moment. His Majesty feels fortunate to have enjoyed this day with Archie's family and godfather. Their son, Archie, was baptized by wearing a handmade replica of a royal baptism dress that has been worn by royal babies for the past 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace covered in white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and was first worn by her eldest daughter. Then it was used for generations of royal baptisms, including the Queen, her children and grandchildren until 2004, when the Queen commissioned this handmade replica, so that historic fragile clothing could be preserved, and so the tradition continued. Prince Harry and Markle need this break

Prince Harry and Markle use this holiday season to rest six weeks from their royal duties and travel to the United States.

Extra-time is not surprising, given the emotional interviews of Prince Harry and Markle during their documentary Harry & Meghan: Africa Travel, where they touch the intense public scrutiny they face.

Markle told the interviewer how he struggled with life in the spotlight, explaining: "Every woman, especially when they are pregnant, you are really vulnerable and it is made very challenging. And then when you have a newborn baby, you know … especially as a woman, it really is, that's a lot, so you add this above just trying to be a new mother or trying to be a newlywed, yeah, I guess "

He added, "And also thank you for asking because there isn't much
people ask if I'm fine. But it's a very real thing to go through
behind the scenes."

When the interviewer asked him, "And the answer is? Is that
being fair to say, 'Not really alright,' as in, is it really a struggle ?, "he
answer, "yes."
