This must be close to CES time, because once again LG talks about TV next year. In a post touting the Alpha processor that drives various displays, he revealed that by 2019 the high-end OLED screens will include Alpha 9 (α9 Gen 2), a sequel to last year's A9 CPU. It mentioned the four-step noise reduction process and support for 120fps video high frame rate (HFR). The only problem? They registered the same feature last year.
What is very interesting to know is whether this new TV will have support for the HDMI 2.1 standard. If they do, it is possible to insert HFR videos via HDMI – a set last year could only do so via a USB drive. Another big addition last year was support for AI like Google Assistant, and we need to see if it gets an upgrade in the new set too.
