Kohl makeover does not work – CNN



The company on Tuesday said sales at stores open at least a year grew anemic 0.4% over the past quarter. Kohl's profit dropped 24% during the quarter compared to a year ago, and retailers cut prospects for a holiday shopping holiday. This is the second time Kohl has cut its forecast this year.

It also shrunk the size of some shops and rented out extra space to companies like Aldi and Planet Fitness (PLNT). It also tests concepts such as "clothing bars" for drawing Millennials. The clothing bar allows women to shop by "looking for" work and social events – in one place.

But to survive, Kohl might need to become bigger.
