College football schedule, game 2019: What to watch on Sunday 8, kickoff time on Saturday, TV channels

At the midpoint of the season, it's time to start separating competitors from pretenders. And with the slate set loaded for Saturday on Sunday 8 featuring three matches with the top 25 teams facing off, we will likely have clarity coming Sunday morning.

Two of the games are to the west on Pac-12, where the division race heats up when Oregon No. 12 to California No. 25 and Utah Utah hosts Arizona State No. 17. Third, No. 7 Penn State vs No. 16 Michigan, will have serious implications for the Top Ten ranking depending on which team qualifies with a win at State College.

The remaining seven undefeated teams will also play this weekend – Alabama, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Penn State – as the struggle for entry into the top four of the upcoming playoffs continues.

You will want to finish early Saturday for a solid slate that will keep you going all day.

All time in the East; the game is played Saturday unless otherwise stated.

The biggest game

3 Clemson in Louisville, ABC, noon: ACC Atlantic's top two teams will face each other at Cardinal Stadium. Clemson lost the top spot in the Top 25 AP poll after only narrowly escaping at Chapel Hill three weeks ago but still sitting 6-0 in the season after destroying the State of Florida last week. Louisville was smashed to pieces after defeating the Wake Forest team that was ranked on Week 7. Can the card – at home – complete an upset attempt that Tar Heels cannot do?

12 Oregon at No. 25 Washington, ABC, 3:30 p .: Oregon's defense will be difficult for Washington to defeat, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Facing the second best at the conference, the Huskies will need another offensive explosion as they release against Arizona if they want to shoot the Ducks. Victory for Oregon, on the other hand, could help them basically lock the Pac-12 North crown.

17 Arizona State at No. 13 Utah, Pac-12 Network, streaming on FuboTV (Try it free), 6 p.m .: The second top 25 battle at Pac-12 comes with the chance to start sorting Pac-12 South. Arizona State freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels has made serious progress throughout the season, but the winner of the conference match will be determined on the defensive side of the ball. Utes seems to have an advantage, but the Sun Devils have shown that they can increase as needed.

16 Michigan at No. 7 Penn State, ABC, 7:30 p.m .: The Wolverines head to Happy Valley who want to defeat the undefeated Penn State at the top of the Big Ten East standings. The State of Ohio sits next to the Nittany Lions with a perfect record – and the two teams will face the Buckeyes at the end of the season, making Saturday's battle an important conference decider. With a "white out" scheduled at State College, its energy is guaranteed electricity.

Another great game

9 Florida in South Carolina, ESPN, noon: South Carolina has shown that they can get along with the SEC's top teams after giving up Georgia's first loss last week. It took two hours overtime, but Will Muschamp's crew still managed to succeed. Florida, on the other hand, entered a new fight from loss to LSU No. 2

2 LSU at Mississippi State, CBS, 3:30 p .: This one should not be too difficult for the Tigers to take, but watching Joe Burrow organize this LSU offense is like watching art. He threw for 293 yards and three goals with a completion percentage of 87.5 last week. He can improve his Heisman Trophy with another five or six goals this weekend.

The temple in No. 19, ESPN2, 3:30 afternoon.: SMU is the last undefeated AAC team that still stands and Temple is on the verge of cracking in the AP Top 25 poll. This game can be very decisive AAC champion, and could be a potential rematch in the AAC title game later this year.

18 Baylor in Oklahoma State, Fox, streaming on FuboTV (Try it free), 4 afternoon.: Baylor is one of the two undefeated teams left in the Big 12 with Oklahoma. This weekend's win will be a big step towards the Bear keeping their record defect-free ahead of the fight with Sooners on Week 10.

Kentucky at No. 10 Georgia, ESPN, 6 pages: How the Bulldogs bounced back from a double defeat to South Carolina that was not included last week will provide a glimpse of what lies ahead for the rest of the season. Georgia 3-3 under Kirby Smart in the game immediately after the defeat and Kentucky – who led Florida for three quarters a few weeks ago – are ready to be angry.
