The 4G network Kyivstar operates in 3410 locations and operators have shared some data regarding 4th generation communication usage in Ukraine. Due to the development of LTE technology, traffic data consumption per customer has increased 3 times compared to 2017, and 6 times in two years.
52% of 4G traffic produces audio and video streaming services. Access to social networks is also in demand – this is 15% of traffic. But searching on the Internet in the overall structure of traffic on the 4G network requires 12%, while in 2G it is more than 23%. Online message senders generate 3% of traffic, both on 2G and 4G networks.
Separately, the company noted that video and audio traffic in telecommunications networks in other countries in the world reached 70%. That is, the Ukrainian telecommunications market is developing in accordance with global trends.
The rate of data transfer in 4G networks makes it possible to use this standard as an alternative to fixed Internet, especially in villages. So, in October 2018 in rural areas, the average consumption date of traffic per 4G customer is 4.2 GB, and in megalopolis – 6.12 GB.
