Austrian police on Wednesday stole paintings by French painter Pierre Auguste Renoir for 160,000 euros ($ 180,600) from a Vienna auction house and were looking for three suspects.
"The painting, which bears the name of the Gulf, the sea and the green slope, is a natural sight taken from its frame last night, during a presentation before its planned sale in the Dorotheum Auction Hall," police said in a statement.
Police showed photos of the three men suspected of being captured by surveillance cameras. "They are obviously professionals," he said.
The painting, estimated at between 120 and 160,000 euros, will be sold at tonight's auction.
