The newspaper “Mail on Sunday” said that British Queen Elizabeth II in the coming weeks will receive a vaccine developed by “Pfizer and Biontech”, which recently received the green light from British health authorities to fight the coronavirus.
The newspaper indicated that the 94-year-old queen and her husband Prince Philip, 99, will be vaccinated on a priority basis, given their age and not subject to special treatment.
According to the newspaper, the two older members of the British royal family will receive the vaccinations in public to encourage as many people as possible to receive them.
The UK has given the green light for a coronavirus vaccine, developed by two “Pfizer-Biontech” companies, in preparation for a vaccination campaign that will start with the elderly and people deemed most vulnerable.
In response to AFP questions, Buckingham Palace did not immediately comment.
Meanwhile, the newspaper “Daily Mirror” reported that many celebrities in the UK have committed to openly receiving vaccines to support this vaccination campaign.
