GENEVA / CAMPAIGN. The life-threatening Ebola virus continues to spread in Congo in Central Africa and neighboring countries are worried. In Uganda, 1,600 helpers were being vaccinated at health centers along the border, said health minister Jane Ruth Aceng at the weekend.

Suspected cases of Ebola have been reported from southern Sudan, Uganda and even Yemen, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported. But not in the case of Ebola infection.

Nearly 12 million people were tested at the border post in Congo for signs of Ebola. There are 14 suspected cases where one of the viruses has been detected.

According to the Congo Health Ministry, from the beginning of August to the end of October, 250 people have been infected with certainty, and 35 others may be with the Ebola virus. 81 patients have recovered, 180 patients have died.

WHO is worried about the increasing number of Congo cases. WHO boss Adhanom Ghebreyesus traveled to Congo this week. He was also accompanied by the head of the UN peace mission Jean-Pierre Lacroix. (AP)
