US pop star Beyonce and Cantopop Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung collaborated on a duet for the first time for the new Lion King film.

The Disney live-action remake premiered in Chinese cinema last Saturday with the voice of Beyonce acting as the queen of Nala and partnering with Cheung for the theme song for Can You Feel The Love Tonight? '

Fans of Cheung and Beyonce in China and Hong Kong called this duet a "collaboration of the century."

Earlier this year, Beyonce and US singer Donald Glover featured the official American version of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" Glover plays Simba as the main character in the Lion King.

This song was released in 1994 and won the Best Original Song at the Oscar and Golden Globe Awards that year.

British singer Sir Elton John who wrote and composed the song won the Best Male Pop Vocal Performer at the Grammy Awards.

Live-action remake The Lion King is a photorealistic computer-animated musical drama directed and produced by Jon Favreau and also featuring the sounds of Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor and James Earl Jones.

The Lion King was originally released in 1994 with animation and traditional music written and composed by John and Tim Rice.

In the original film, the song was performed by Kristle Edwards and in another version, it was done by Sir Elton John.

The film is about a young lion named Simba who will replace his father Mufasa as the King of the Pride Land.

Uncle's uncle, Scar killed Mufasa and Simba was manipulated to think he was responsible and fled to exile.

In exile Simba reveals her past truth from her father's baboon friend Rafiki and Nala's childhood lover and returns to challenge Scar to replace him as the legitimate King.

The Lion King picks up 270 million Hong Kong Dollars (47 million SGD) in Hong Kong in just two days.
