REUTERS: Apple Inc.'s XR iPhone is the company's best-selling iPhone model every day since it went on sale in mid-October, a company executive told Reuters on Wednesday.
The iPhone XR, which costs US $ 749, was announced in September along with two other models, iPhone XS and XS Max, which start at $ 999. XR brings many key features from pricer phones to lower price points, and analysts broadly saw it as Apple's efforts to present new features such as unlocking the face recognition and newest processing chips to a wider number of buyers.
But a series of negative estimates from smartphone suppliers in recent weeks has sparked fears that the model may not perform as Apple expected. The report, along with investor concerns over Apple's November 1 disclosure, will no longer provide sales unit sales data to investors, has contributed to a more than 20 percent decline from Apple's peak share price in October.
While Apple still hasn't provided absolute unit sales figures, this company sometimes reveals to investors which models sell the best of its ranks, which currently include older models like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of product marketing, told Reuters that the iPhone XR is currently Apple's "most important product and most popular iPhone."
