Passengers were forced to go down after the train stopped along the Bukit Panjang LRT line

SINGAPURA: Disruption along the Bukit Panjang LRT line on Monday (January 21) forced passengers to get off the train they were riding and walked along the path to Fajar station.

The train stops between Fajar and Bangkit stations, about 100 meters from the previous station.

According to SMRT, one of the LRT trains has encountered an error near the Fajar station along Service B around 10:10 a.m., while Service A remains available.

"Our staff helps affected commuters hold and guide them to the Fajar LRT station," said Margaret Teo, vice president for SMRT Corporate Communications.

"SCDF (Singapore Civil Defense Forces) staff is activated for the safety of all passengers," he added.

Station and train announcements were also made to notify passengers of this situation, said SMRT.

"Passengers were detained by SMRT staff," the SCDF said, adding that officers were on standby but "assistance was not needed".

Ms Teo said the affected trains were brought back to the depot for further inspection and the train service was progressively returning around 11:10.

"We apologize to all passengers affected by the BPLRT incident," he added.
