SINGAPORE: Four people, believed to be part of a foreign crime syndicate, have been arrested for allegedly stealing goods worth S $ 30,000, including clothing and accessories, police said on Tuesday (November 27).
Police received reports from retailers along Smith Street on Monday, claiming that items had been stolen from the store.
After a land investigation, officers from the Central Police Division identified the suspects and arrested them the same day. The suspects, two men and two women, were between 27 and 41 years old.
More than 1,000 items, including branded clothing, were found and confiscated as evidence. Items have a total value of around S $ 30,000.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspects were believed to be part of a foreign crime syndicate and were involved in other similar cases in Singapore.
The four suspects will be prosecuted in court on Wednesday with theft in their homes with shared intentions and fraudulent ownership with the same purpose. If proven, they face a maximum sentence of eight years imprisonment and a fine.
