Between singers R. Kelly and Sony Music, it's over: a contract that connects the record company RCA (Sony's subsidiary) with the singer ended, after a documentary accused him of carrying out several sexual attacks on Friday reporting on some special media.

"R. Kelly and Sony have decided to separate," the Billboard website said, citing unnamed sources. "Sony Music has decided to end its professional relationship with R. Kelly," released the celebrity website Variety in the process, also referring to unknown sources.

Contacted by AFP, Sony Music did not immediately confirm the information.
Chicago singer Robert Sylvester Kelly, whose real name has always denied this charge, has not made a comment.

But R & B singer and hit writer "I Believe I Can Fly", who recently announced a new album, has been in a more difficult position in recent months.

Accusing documentary

The call for boycott has doubled under the encouragement of #MeToo and Time's Up, through the #MuteRKelly slogan on Twitter.
Sweden's online music platform Spotify announced in May to remove the singer from its "playlist".

Coup de grace apparently originated from a broadcast in early January on a cable channel from a documentary entitled "Surviving R. Kelly", where several women accused the singer and 52-year-old producer of having sex with girls under the age of 16, and had surrounded themselves with the woman he made sex slave.

Chicago lawyer Kim Foxx launched a January 8 call for witnesses to investigate allegations. Atlanta (Georgia) prosecutors, where the singer also owns property, are also investigating, according to local media.

The first accusations against him appeared almost twenty years ago.
He was indicted in 2002 for recording sexual acts between him and a 14-year-old girl, but was finally released in 2008.

One of the alleged victims said on Monday that R. Kelly and his team threatened him after filing in May 2018 for the singer.
Gloria Allred, the young woman's lawyer and representing two accusers of R. Kelly, said Monday that New York police were also investigating the musician.
