Lyon's Ferland left side Mendy said on Sunday at a press conference as he learned in his first meeting in France on Monday after Benjamin Mendy's package.
"What made you find Clairefontaine and join the French team?
I am very satisfied to be called on the French team. When I arrived, I was happy and I waited to see how it was. This goes very well. I was well integrated and my teammates welcomed me.
It's been 16 months since you played in Ligue 1. To arrive at the French team, you said that was fast or did you expect it?
I don't expect it. This went well with Lyon, I made a good profit. This allows me to be called after one package. I am here and I am available for the French team.
Do you have hope to play against Uruguay on Tuesday?
I don't have any indication from the coach about that. And what can be said between him and me remains between us. If he calls me, I will be there to give everything.
Regarding your right foot is quite extraordinary for left-handed, are you saying that you might be interested in being considered a versatile side in your future prospects, at a club like in an election?
I am often told that I have a good right foot. If I have to solve the problem on the right side, it doesn't bother me. I have done it at the club. If the coach puts me on the right side, I will play on the side and if he puts me on the left side, I will play on the left side (smile)
"I don't see what I can carry with the land they don't have"
How is the quality of the right foot explained? Is this natural or do you often process it?
It's true that I work a lot on my right foot. From a young age, at Paris Saint-Germain, we were taught to play with the right foot. I keep working on it. At U19, I then experienced a sprain. So I just played right foot training to not hurt myself.
What do you expect to be taken to the French team to register for that long?
I hope to bring my determination and desire. After, I won't talk football, I don't see what I can bring on land that they don't have (shy laugh)
You were approached by Senegal. Have you thought about joining Teranga Lions?
Coach Aliou Cissé called me several times. I told him that I would see later, that I wanted to continue to make a good match with my club and see how it would happen.
How did you evaluate your progress since your debut in Ligue 1, at the start of last season? And how do you explain the late hatch?
I am advancing technically and tactically. I arrived at that level now, because it's time to get there and then (laugh)! I am not a coach and I cannot decide for them. I am here when I have to be there (smile) Only that!
How do you study your choices?
I am taking a nap. And I saw, when I woke up, Guy Gênet (OL staff member) called me several times. I wondered what I had done, if there was a problem, if I missed the practice! That's a little weird. But he told me the good news, that I had to do my business to join the French team. I am still rather boring but I realize that I really have to do my business. And I immediately went down! "
