(CNN) – If you think wolf super bloody moon is scary, you haven't seen what the sun is able to do.
NASA on Sunday shared photos on Facebook and Twitter about the sun which is very similar to a giant lantern jack-o'-lantern.
The space agency captured spooky images on October 8, 2014. The face was the result of an active area of the sun that burned brighter than the others, NASA said.
"They are markers of a series of intense and complex magnetic fields that hover in the sun's atmosphere, the corona," NASA said. "This image combines two sets of extreme ultraviolet wavelengths at 171 and 193 Ångströms, usually colored in gold and yellow, to create a very Halloween-like appearance."
NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, which took the photo, constantly monitors the sun from its orbit in space.
NASA invites people to download high-resolution images of pumpkin sun, "just in time for Halloween."
