Laguna target & # 39; high value & # 39 ;, 2 others were killed in a shootout

SAN PEDRO CITY – A suspected drug dealer and alleged "rented" leader was killed in a police operation in the city of San Pablo in Laguna province early Saturday.

Laguna police chief Sr. Supt. Eleazar Matta said the dead suspect Christopher Alain Alvero was ranked eighth in the police watch list for "high-value targets" in drugs and whose group was allegedly involved in a series of contract killings in the city.

Matta said police were supposed to find the residence of the suspects at the Alvero complex in Barangay (village) San Ignacio around 7:00 on Saturday when a shootout broke out.

Police were armed with several warrants for drugs and firearms issued by judge Agripino Morga from the 32 regional court office in San Pablo City.

According to Matta, the suspects opened fire which asked the authorities to retaliate.

Besides Alvero, also killed were two friends who were not identified.

The police, meanwhile, arrested Joy Alvero, Enrico Suasi, Anthony Castillo, and Abby Gomez.

Police said they found at least five pistols, sniper rifles, hand grenades and some ammunition.
