Simona Halep defeated Serena Williams to claim her first Wimbledon title yesterday. The former world number one defeated the American in two straight sets, beating both 6-2. Despite a strong start in the second set from Williams, the Romanian was able to fight and win his first Grand Slam title.
The match ends in less than one hour.
After the match, Simona thanked her family and country for their support.
He spoke to Sue Barker, who told him: "You mentioned at your press conference, you hope the Duchess of Cambridge will be here today.
"So, you will get a membership and also be able to see your name on the board and you will also get a royal box where you might meet them."
Simona looked very happy when she replied: "Amazing – I don't know that, now it's even more special!"
The crowd burst into laughter and the two dukes looked at each other and giggled from the Royal Box.
In a pre-match press conference, Halep said he hoped Kate would support him.
After the match, Simona shook hands with the Duchess of Cambridge and made respect, much to entertain everyone who watched.
The couple then chat briefly before he continues to meet other people.
Meghan also attended the day to watch her friend Serena play.
He sat in the Royal Box with his sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge and Kate's sister, Pippa Matthews.
Serena and Meghan have been close in recent years, with tennis ace even attending noble weddings in May last year.
This is the second time the nobleman has witnessed an American superstar in the tournament in 2019, after making a low visit to watch Williams's second round match.
