It was long awaited that Santiago Solari would only lead Real Madrid out of season.
But on Tuesday, Real Madrid confirmed on its website that the Spaniard had been given permanent employment until June 2021.
– Real Madrid Board of Directors C.F. meet today, November 13, 2018, and have agreed to hire Santiago Solari as the main coach for the first team until June 30, 2021, according to a club press release.
Solari jumped after Lopetegui Natal was recently kicked. Under Solari, Real have won all four matches.
Solari was promoted from his role as coach of the Reals B (Castilla) team.
Argentina, who played for the club between 2000 and 2005, led Real Madrid for the first time in a trophy victory away from Melilla.
Antonio Conte has long been mentioned as the new coach at the Bernabeu, but earlier this week it became clear that Italy would not take over the club.
– Real Madrid? As I see it, it's better to wait until the end of the season before I start training again. I will wait until June before I start again with a new project. In the next few months, I can change my mind, but I always think about it like this, Conte told Sky Sports.
The fact that Solari became Real Madrid's permanent manager is good news for Martin Ødegaard. In an interview with TV 2 Sport on Tuesday morning, he promised Santiago Solari.
He has been a long time. He has a lot of experience and knows how everything works. Like Zidane, he knows what it's like to be a Madrid player. I think it helps when you will be a coach there, "Ødegaard told TV 2, saying:
– I have a good relationship with him. He is a very good man and he is good at his field. He has good people around him. This is very interesting what happened there, Ødegaard said.
