Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembélé is likely to leave the football field this year as a result of a band injury to the ankle. The club reported Thursday.
"Unfortunately, an investigation by Mousa Dembele confirmed that ligaments in the right ankle were injured and there was no way he could play again before the new year, the club reported.
The 31-year-old also lost Belgium's national league matches against Iceland and Switzerland.
The London club has suffered a lot of damage this fall. Alli, Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier have suffered injuries, and Rose and Vertonghen are still out.
"We hope he will be available from the beginning of January," said Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Dembélé.
