DURBAN – Coach Orlando Pirates, Milutin "Micho" Sredojevic loves a player who has the confidence to show off their skills, unlike most foreign coaches.

Foreign coaches have been criticized in the past for limiting players' freedom to express themselves, but Serbian coaches are not on the list.

Pirates revived the style on Saturday as they got a better than AmaZulu to reach the Telkom Knockout semi-final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The Buccaneers emerged as winners 3-1 thanks to two goals from Thembinkosi Lorch and Xola Mlambo's single strike. Bongi Ntuli scored a solitary goal for Usuthu.

People like Thabo Qalinge and Mlambo started showboating after taking two goals in extra time.

Sredojevic, explained to the media after the match that he did not mind his players entertaining supporters.

"You need to understand something, football is played for supporters," said Sredojevic. "We are here to serve them. Last year we healed their souls. This year we want to feed.

"When something like this comes as a team effort (there is no problem). It was not the intention to harass the opponent. It was the intention to attract our supporters and thank them for the support they have given us. "

Pirates are in the process. They are unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions and their fans are happy.

"We want them (our supporters) to return to their homes happy because life is not a bed of roses. In all the bitterness of their lives, we want (they enjoy) a little sweetness and this is what happens.

I am very respectful of Amasi's coach Cavin Johnson and his team. "The best way to maintain ownership is to maintain the ball, and we try ultimately to maintain (by maintaining ownership)," Sredojevic said.

His team won, scored and played well-structured football, but Sredojevic had to support him with several trophies.

The supporters he talked about have experienced turmoil in the past four years. They even forget how it feels to feel success.

Luckily for the loyal Buccaneers, Sredojevic was aware of the importance of ending the trophy drought at Mayfair.

"Regarding the importance of this Cup, any match or Cup in Orlando Pirates (color) is the most important match in our lives and this is how we approach it. When we speak the supporters will return home happily after winning. Let them have an element of happiness.

This is now history and all the focus is on Polokwane City on Tuesday. We play against competitive teams. Rama G (Rodney Ramagalela) and company. We expect a difficult match and that is our focus now, "Sredojevic explained.
