Sanofi Pharmaceutical Group held the first Sanofi Diabetes Research Awards on Saturday at Skhirat to give awards to three Moroccan researchers.
Thus, the first prize was given to Dr. Zineb Imane from the Avicenna Teaching Hospital in Rabat and the second was given to Professor EL Ansari Nawal, Head of CHU's Endocrinology Service Mohammed VI Marrakech and Dr. Dr. El Ouaradi Nassiba from the same department, while the third prize was given to Dr. Abainou Lahoussine from the Marrakech military hospital.
At the end of the medical approach that asked health professionals who were active in the development and dissemination of research projects related to the care of diabetic patients in Morocco, three medical research projects on diabetes were given by a Moroccan scientific expert jury of a total of 37 initiatives put forward by researchers medical from a university hospital.
Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Health on the occasion of World Diabetes Day (November 14), this scientific event is the result of collaboration between Sanofi Morocco and the Moroccan community of diabetic and nutritional endocrinology (SMEDIAN), aimed at developing and promoting medical and scientific research in Morocco, specifically in diabetes.
Speaking at the award ceremony, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Hicham Nejmi, welcomed this initiative targeting a pathology that occupies an important place on the global health agenda due to significant progress, noting that more than 2 million Moroccans aged 18 and over suffer from diabetes, 50 % of them are not aware of their disease.
Given the pillars of the National Diabetes Prevention and Control Program to promote healthy lifestyles, the leader noted that scientific research will help reduce the economic burden of this disease and its complications on the system. health.
For its part, Sanofi Morocco's President and CEO Amine Benabderrazik expressed the group's commitment to support the scientific research community in Morocco to advance scientific knowledge and put it on treatment services for patients.
The President of SMEDIAN Hamdoun Lhassani, meanwhile, emphasized the role of increasing awareness, therapeutic education, cultural sensitivity and scientific research in the fight against this disease, recalling the involvement of SMEDIAN in this direction to improve the lives of people with diabetes in Morocco.
This meeting was also an opportunity to present data and quantitative and qualitative studies on diabetes in Morocco and around the world, including the Study of International Diabetes Management Practices (IDMPS), the largest care observation study. diabetes in adults in 51 countries, including Morocco.
