Guillermo del Toro will provide new scholarships for filmmakers

GUADALAJARA.- Mexican Director Guillermo del Toro, Oscar for Best Director, announced who will provide scholarships for Mexican youth who want to study film at one of the most prominent universities in the world.

Del Toro joins Mary Street Jenkins Foundation and the Guadalajara International Film Festival to finance with 60,000 dollars the transfer, maintenance and registration of future Mexican filmmakers in one of the 80 best film schools in the world.

Mexicans will lead a jury formed by seven other professionals with international recognition in the field of cinematography who will evaluate to young applicants and they will choose the winner.

This year's first call will open until December 20 and winners will be announced during the International Film Fair of Guadalajara, which will be held between March 8 and 15 next year.

Among the long list of schools from all continents where scholarship winners can register, is the Community Madrid (ECAM) Cinematography and Audiovisual School and the Superior Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia (ESCAC)).
