Nearly a month after the initial release announcement, Microsoft was able to download Windows October 10 2018 again – this update was canceled immediately after the first attempt to distribute it, because an error had occurred that some users lost their data.

Windows 10 is automatically saved

Usually, Windows functional updates are distributed in stages, automatically offering new downloads for a certain period of time, which will not be an exception at this time. First, the proposal to install the new system version will accept two groups of people: those who are looking for updates manually, and those who use special media creation tools for implementing new systems. If this user doesn't experience a new bug, Windows 10 will be available to other users in the coming weeks.

Interestingly, Microsoft's first unofficial attempt to upgrade the system was considered generally inadequate, and the release date of the new release was November 13. This is important for the "support windows" operating system. The support period from the same day starts with Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 1809.

Because of the inconvenience of some enthusiastic users who have made Windows 10 updates available, Microsoft will tighten software testing and development processes. Regarding a slightly longer operating period, Microsoft has promised greater openness for the launch of the development and testing process of Windows 10, and over the next few months you can expect to learn more about how operating system manufacturers change their attitudes and processes. Microsoft software quality has been evaluated on several different levels and in several different dimensions. For example, when users start complaining after the release of an operating system update, "initial quality errors" are noted regarding the stability and reliability of the new functional update. Detecting such errors means that experienced operating system testers have done something wrong. On Tuesday, updates to cyber security enhancements were inflated and problems related to "long-term quality" – reliability and efficiency of updates more weekly.

Although Microsoft explicitly acknowledges the problem with the latest updates, the company officially evaluates the operating system trajectory properly. Company executives mainly rely on certain indicators used to assess operating system satisfaction. The first is "frequency of incidents", or the number of complaints received from users after each system update. During the lifetime of Windows 10, this indicator continues to decline. That means something Microsoft is doing well. However, incidents can be misleading. The error of Windows 10 with a large number of users is a cosmetic error that gets more messages than more serious incidents – such as data loss – which are only experienced by a small number of users, although the latest type of incident is undoubtedly more important.

Another indicator is "net promoter score", or an estimate of how users will be willing to recommend each version of Windows 10 to their friends and family. Company representatives believe that this indicator is also increasing, and the spring version of Windows 10 has received the best estimate of all time. However, this indicator may also not indicate a serious problem faced by a small number of users.

The Windows user base is very large and complex – 700 million. consumer, 35 million. gadget 175 million. different versions, 16 million unique combinations of drivers and hardware – so the possibility of specific problems specifically for certain configurations occurs with each other or very large.
