Three people, including two children aged six and seven, were seriously injured on Thursday in a raging fire that wounded a family of 11 and eight people in a building in Beit Shemesh.
Several victims, including two children, were taken to Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, near Tel Aviv, and others were taken to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
Twelve of the victims were children. Five firefighting teams were sent to the scene, where they worked to extinguish the fire. A fire rages in a four-story building. Firefighters rescued other tenants, who were trapped by smoke.
"We arrived at Hazon Ish Street in Beit Shemesh because of reports of fire in an apartment on the lower floor of the building," said firefighter Beit Shemesh.
They saved people trapped in apartments, including children with special needs. They evacuated injured tenants through a window and with a crane.
In October, two children, aged two and four, died in a house fire in the Beitar Illit ultra-Orthodox settlement. Two other children and an adult at home were also injured in the incident.
