Non-operational isolation room in Civil Hospital; Health Dept. issued advisors to the Trinity News service Bathinda, November 17 The first case of swine flu this season was reported in the district.
Like last year, the district Health Department did not seem ready to handle H1N1 patients.
Because the district Health Department had issued an advisor on the spread of swine flu in the district, isolation wards intended for H1N1 patients lay locked in the Civil Hospital.
Wrong preparedness from the Ministry of Health came to the surface because the swine flu ward inside the mini ICU building was still non-operational.
A senior official at the Civil Hospital said swine flu patients needed ventilatory support and ventilators were not available at the hospital.
