Most of the evictees are elderly children and women, including pregnant and lactating women.
Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) – Morethan 400 Tigreans arrived in the eastern state of Gedaref, after mass evictions by Amhara state officials, the Sudan Refugee Commission (SCR) confirmed to the Sudan Tribune (ST).
Sudanese commissioner for refugees Hamad al-Gizouli told ST that the eviction victims had entered Sudan through the Gallabat and Metemma border points between the two countries.
Sudanes officials estimate that a further wave of evictions will arrive in Sudan over the next few days, saying that among 400, there are 181 children and 100 women including pregnant and lactating women.
Al-Gizouli added that they had agreed with UNHCR and UNICEF to provide ready-made food and medical assistance to their fellow countrymen.
