Manufacturing process
The Exynos 9820 produced by Samsung uses the FinFET 8nm LPP (Low Power Plus) process, which offers up to 10% increase in power management compared to the chipset based on the 10nm manufacturing process (Exynos 9810 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845).

The CPU
Exynos 9820 comes with an Octa-core CPU architecture with a tri-cluster design dedicated to offering better performance using a custom CPU 4 Gen design.
Exynos 9820 has two high-performance cores based on a special architecture to handle intensive and high-performance CPU tasks. The next two core are based on the ARM A-75 architecture to offer optimal performance. Finally, a set of four cores based on the ARM A-55 architecture will handle smaller tasks, offering a better battery life.
Compared to Exynos 9810, Exynos 9820 offers a 15% increase in CPU performance with a 20% increase with 40% less energy consumption.

GPU
Exynos 9820 is equipped with ARM Mali-G76 MP12 with increased graphics performance of up to 40% and power consumption 35% lower compared to Exynos 9810 SoC.

NPU
The Exynos 9820 package is on a special NPU chip (Neural processing unit) to handle AI tasks. Now, the chipset can handle AI related processing on the smartphone chipset itself to offer an enhanced camera / photography experience with a more realistic experience in AR and VR devices.

Modem
The latest Mobile processor from Samsung is equipped with a Pro LTE-Advanced built-in modem (Cat.20 8CA), which offers up to a maximum download speed of 2.0 Gbps (CatCA 3CA) and 316 megabits per second (Mbps) uplink speed with aggregation operator 8x.
In connection with real world scenarios, smartphones with the Exynos 9820 chipset can download FHD movies with a 3.7 GB file size in just 15 seconds. However, one must have a high-speed internet connection to reach this speed.

Display and Memory
The Exynos 9820 can support smartphones with a maximum resolution of 4K UHD (4096×2160). The chipset supports UFS 3.0 and UFS 2.1 storage types with support for LPDDR4x RAM.

Camera and imaging
The processor can drive a single main camera with 22 MP resolution or dual camera settings with 16 MP + 16 MP resolution with support for 8K video recording capabilities at 30fps and 4K video recording at 150fps with 10-bit HEVC (H.265), H.264 , VP9 video coding.
