Carlos Ghosn is known for electromobility fans as people who have contributed a lot to the creation of the Nissan Leaf electric car. But he was arrested in Tokyo for alleged financial fraud.
Carlos Ghosn and Greg Kelly, other senior managers, were accused Tokyo Stock Exchange misinformation about its income, misuse of company property and many other violations. In response to the latest news, the car maker's shares fell more than 11%.
Hiroto Saikawa, Nissan's executive director, will therefore appeal Ghosn and Kelly. Ghosn is considered the savior of the Nissan brand before the threatening bankruptcy in 1999.
