Digital Today – Ask for revised birth standards for women with HIV

The Community of Women with HIV (ICW) / Dominican Republic and the Solidarity Alliance for Combating HIV and AIDS (Asolsida) asked the Ministry of Health and its affiliated entities to review treatment norms and protocols for people with HIV to combine the choice of vaginal delivery for women with HIV.
They consider the rejection of this option as an act of structural violence against women. These organizations are dedicated to promoting better living conditions for people with HIV, considering that in the case of women there are various obstacles and gaps to fully implement their rights. They demand access to vaginal delivery, sanctions for forced sterilization, reproductive decisions about having a daughter and the absence of clear rules that protect rights
