J. R. Calligham and its collaborators have uncovered the threat of a star system which, if exploited, will release as much energy as it produces Sun throughout its existence, according to an article in the journal Nature, on November 19.
The star system belongs Milky Way, and collect three stars, at a distance of 8,000 light years from Earth It was also found that one of the stars rotates at extreme speeds at the risk of exploding long-lasting gamma rays, the most powerful in the universe.
"This system is probably the first of its kind that has been found in our own galaxy"said Benjamin Pope, NASA member Sagan at the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics from New York University, according to Science Daily.
Even though the explosion lasts only a few seconds, the energy emitted will be as much as that produced by the Sun during its existence.
However, scientists estimate that it will not affect the Earth; to reach it will destroy the layer ozone atmosphere.
On the other hand, there is also the possibility that pop become less strong.
"This system can reduce its speed sufficiently and explode like a normal supernova, instead of producing a gamma ray burst"he said Peter Tuthill, from University of Sydney, who commented that it was just waiting and observing the behavior of the star system Apophis, as mentioned.
Apophis was called an ancient Egyptian deity, symbolized in the form of a snake and which manifested evil forces, continuing to fight against the gods Ra.
