Enel asked for more deadlines to file charges on charges against Bocamina

Through a public statement, the company Enel Generación Chile, which operates the Bocamina thermoelectric plant at Coronel, reported this afternoon that they had decided to present the disclaimer for the formulation made by Superintendency of Environment (SMA).

"Because of the above, the company requested an extension of the deadline, which was approved by the authorities," the company said in the statement.

"Enel Generación Chile has implemented a series of environmental improvements at the Bocamina plant, increasing its management standards, with sustainability being the hub of the company's strategic focus," the company said.

During this day, SMA informed that it was formulating allegations against the company for violating environmental norms, in the Biobío Region.

The project in question is Bocamina Thermoelectric Central Expansion (Second Unit), which meets environmental requirements through RCA N ° 206/2007; "Expansion of the Bocamo Thermoelectric Power Plant, RCA N ° 017/2010; and "Thermoelectric Plant Bocamine Unit II Optimization", RCA No. 128/2015.

Violations were detected in the operation of two thermoelectric plants, Unit 1 was called Bocamo 1 Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTB1) and Unit 2, Bocamo 2 Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTB2), which the Permanent Monitoring Program for waste quality was established. , according to DS 90/2000

Based on the environmental control report, the Inspector detects six facts which are violations:

1. CTB1 does not report all parameters indicated in its monitoring program.

2. CTB1 does not report with the frequency of monitoring required.

3. CTB1 exceeds the maximum level permitted for Fecal Coliform parameters and / or Total Suspended Solids.

4. CTB1 does not report the background related to resampling required.

5. CTB2 does not report all parameters indicated in its monitoring program.

6. CTB2 does not report with the required frequency.

These violations are classified as minor, so companies can be subject to written warnings or fines of up to 1,000 Annual Tax Units (UTA).

After notification of this cost formulation, Enel Generación Chile S.A. will have a period of 10 working days to submit a Compliance Program (PdC) and 15 working days to form their respective disclaimers.
