JERSEY BARU – Three New Jersey hospital employees were fired after learning that more than 3,000 people might be exposed to HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
According to the Health Plus Surgery Center, located in Saddle Brook, three workers were fired because they did not sterilize the instruments properly. Health Plus now faces the first legal action.
The surgical center recommends that patients undergo surgery between January and September, to undergo a blood test, even though the risk of infection is low.
So far, 186 patients have been tested and only one has tested positive for hepatitis.
