Woodstock women are charged after $ 360K is raised from the Norwich business

A 48-year-old Woodstock, Ont. women face many accusations after fraud investigations revealed more than $ 360,000 was taken from Norwich business accounts.

The Oxford County OPP said they were informed of fraud on September 6.

"Police were contacted by a Norwich business that reported fraud," Const said. Ed Sanchuk.

"Some checks from a business are cashed with more than $ 360,000 released from financial accounts."

Sanchuk said the money was taken from accounts starting January, 2015 and the withdrawal continued until September 6.

Business name has not been identified.

"We don't want to revive business," Sanchuk said. "The owners are very upset about what happened and it happened before the court."

Christine Georgina Smith, 48, has been accused of the following:

  • Fraud of more than $ 5,000
  • Make fake documents
  • Use, handle, act on forged documents
  • Washing the proceeds of crime

There is no word about Smith's relationship with business.

He is scheduled to appear at Woodstock court later in the day.
