The police cannot justify the alleged lure of a 6-year-old girl from a Vancouver school

Vancouver police said they had no evidence to confirm claims that a six-year-old girl was lured from the property of the Sexsmith Elementary School and was sexually assaulted in December.

Police said they had investigated tips from the public, conducted interviews with staff and students, examined the surrounding environment, and reviewed video footage but could not verify the original story.

VPD Sgt. Jason Robillard said an investigation was underway.

"We feel this is an important update for parents, staff, students and the wider community to pay attention to," Robillard said.

"Investigating any allegations that affect a person's personal safety, especially children's health and safety, is a priority for the Vancouver Police."
