Astronauts Andrew Morgan from NASA and Luca Parmitano from the European Space Agency (ESA) will roam outside the International Space Station from ~ 7: 05 am. EST to start repairing the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) instrument. This is the first of a series of space repairs – the most complex of these types since the repair of the Hubble Space Telescope. AMS is attached to the outside of the space station, where it has been operating since 2011. This is a particle physics experiment that works to help us understand dark matter and the origin of the universe.
