Oilers get Petrovic from the Panthers for Wideman



EDMONTON – Edmonton Oilers acquired defender Alexander Petrovic from the Florida Panthers on Sunday in return for the blue-liner Chris Wideman and conditional third round choices in the 2019 NHL draft.

Petrovic, 26 has one assist in 26 matches with Florida this season.

Petrovic has featured in 254 NHL matches during his five-year career, registering 49 points (five goals, 44 assists).

Original Edmonton was originally chosen by Florida in the second round, overall 36th, in the 2010 NHL draft.

Wideman, 28, has two assists through five matches with the Oilers this season since he was traded to Edmonton from the Ottawa Senator last month.

Wideman has 16 goals and 27 assists in 175 NHL career matches, mostly with Ottawa. He was recruited by the Senator in the fourth round of 2009.
