Layoffs are expected in the coming months on Be TV

Some redundancies are feared in the coming months among Pay TV staff of TV. The plan, however, does not have the magnitude of what affects the edition of Avenir.

According to SETCa Yves Flamand permanently, management is looking for ways to develop a chain against Netflix competition and special illegal downloads. Trade unions do not present figures regarding this departure, referring to "a number of dismissals".

A subsidiary of Nethys like the Avenir edition, Be TV has faced difficulties for some time. Apart from Netflix and downloads, SETCa representatives also cite more expensive football broadcasting rights.

"A plan was launched internally a few months ago to see how to change society by avoiding social disturbances. It's all about ensuring the continuity of the chain," he explained "There will be redundancy, maybe at various deadlines, but there is no collective redundancy procedure," he added.

Mr. Flamand hopes that this departure will occur during the first half of 2019.

La Libre reported Friday that the plan, which was intended to streamline the technical team, would be linked to the move, in September 2017, the headquarters of Be TV. The team then left Chaussée de Louvain, at Schaerbeek, to join Avenue Ariane, at Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. The Be Tv production studio, however, was maintained at the Chaussée de Louvain. This studio needs to be modernized, which means investing in new technical equipment. TV Management Be proposed to outsource some technical staff. After completion, the transformation plan must produce the departure of 23 people from a total workforce of around 180 people.
