Harry Kewell has been sacked by Notts County after 14 matches in charge of the Sky Bet League Two club.

Kewell Australia signed a three-year contract to replace Kevin Nolan at Meadow Lane in early September.

The former Leeds player and 40-year-old Liverpool only won three wins with County, making them 22nd in the standings.

"The results are not good enough and the level of performance continues to be a concern," said club chairman Alan Hardy.

"We see no reason to continue something that we don't think works."

Steve Chettle will take temporary control of the County first team, with the club hoping to announce a permanent replacement ahead of Saturday's match with Cheltenham.

Kewell, who left Crawley to join the Magpies, departed with assistant manager Warren Feeney and first team analyst Paul Murphy.
