Toyota has officially announced that the All-New Corolla Sedan will submit next week at the Guangzhou Auto Show, November 17-25.
This compact sedan will debut with the exclusive Toyota Levin in China on November 16, the event's press day. While the 2020 Corolla Sedan might be displayed in Chinese specifications, it must also accurately see US specification cars. As for Levin, it is a more luxurious version of the four-door Corolla.
Unfortunately, Japanese car makers did not provide any information on the Corolla Sedan and Levin was closely related. However, we know that the All-new Corolla Sedan shares the TNGA modular platform with the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. That means the four-door model has to offer the same powertrains as the five door version.
In the United States, the hold uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 168 hp (170 ps) at 6,600 rpm and 155 lb-ft (210 Nm) of torque at 4,800 rpm. It comes with two transmission options: a six-speed manual with a new dynamic matching-rev and CVT-Shift with Sport Mode and paddle shifters.
Shifting to the TNGA platform will also result in a more spacious interior and less overall weight. Therefore, the Corolla Sedan 2020 must offer better fuel efficiency and sharper handling characteristics than its predecessor. Equipment-wise, the new model will pack more safety features, as well as the latest Toyota infotainment system.
Expect the Corolla Sedan 2020 to borrow a lot from hatchback partners when it comes to design too. The two rendering made by Kleber Silva offers a pretty good idea of what new models will look. Three quarters of the sedan must look identical to the five-door version, with only the rear quarter being changed to accommodate longer luggage.
