WhatsApp, the most important instant messaging service in the world, was greatly affected lately when it discovered a security breach platform that allows cyber criminals to access their victims' cellphones.
According to Infobae, for this reason the WhatsApp authorities ask their users to update the service when they find out the vulnerability that allows the attacker to take control of the phone with a simple voice call.
How can I update it?
In the case of Android, you must enter Google Play, search for WhatsApp and press where it says «Update». If the option does not appear, it is because the platform is updated.
In the case of iOS, Iphone operating system, you must go to the Apple Store and follow the same steps mentioned earlier.
For its part, author Sarah Romero, from Muy Interesante magazine, published an article where she announced the steps to find out if you have this spyware on your cellphone.
Even though there is no perfect method, several checks can be done to find out if we are affected.
1). Check data usage from each application: if there is an application that consumes more megabytes than usual, it can be a signal.
2). See if your cell phone behaves strangely: i.e. if the battery runs out faster than usual or if it's too hot it could be a sign that you have spyware on your cellphone.
3). Check all installed programs: if you don't remember installing an application, don't delay and delete it.
4). Make regular backup copies: try to always make a backup copy of all data. If something bad happens, you can restore your cellphone without the danger of losing anything. (Infobae and very interesting).
