RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Valentine will offer a free HIV test in honor of World AIDS Day on December 1.
The museum partners with the Diversity Richmond and Nationz Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on providing education and information related to HIV prevention, health and fitness.
"We are very enthusiastic to partner with The Valentine and Diversity Richmond, to provide education and information related to HIV," said Zakia McKensey, Founder of the Nationz Foundation. "It's important to remove the stigma associated with viruses and make sure everyone is aware of their status."
Nationz Foundation will be on the site with their Mobile Testing Unit & Food Pantry, providing free HIV testing from 11am to 3pm.
"The Valentine remains committed to our timeliness mission to pursue community involvement and provide programs that are relevant for people in the region," said Valentine Director Bill Martin. "We are honored to be partnering with the Nationz Foundation and Diversity Richmond to provide free HIV testing to the surrounding environment as part of our Pandemic exhibition, and we look forward to additional partnerships like this that help us use our history to inform our attendance and future forms.
