LONDON – Prince Harry piled praise on his father for replacing Duchess's father Meghan by taking the former actress down the aisle on their wedding day.

The Duke of Sussex, 34, was grateful for his father's "support" in stepping into the role of the royal couple's marriage at Windsor Castle in May, after Duchess's 37-year-old father, Thomas Markle, was forced to withdraw from giving his daughter away because he had undergo heart surgery in the US.

In a documentary, Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at the age of 70, which airs on BBC One on Thursday, Harry said: "I asked for it and I thought he knew it was coming and he immediately said," Yes, of course, I will do whatever Meghan needs and I am at here to support you. & # 39;

"For him it was a fantastic opportunity to step up and become a supporter, and you know he is our father, so of course he will be there for us.

"Just because he's my father doesn't mean I can go, & # 39; Okay, that's all, I'll take it from here. & # 39;"

During the ceremony at St. George's Chapel, Harry – who expects his first child with an ex-actress – can be heard saying, "thank you," because his father handed over the bride.

Charles's wife, Duchess Camilla, admitted it was a "touching moment", which he witnessed only when he witnessed the marriage back on television.

He said: "I thought it was very touching. Sitting where I was, you couldn't hear what he was saying. But after watching it on television, I thought it was a beautiful gesture."

The 71-year-old kingdom also praised her husband – who will turn 70 on November 14 – to ensure Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, was involved with taking her with him to sign the registration and acknowledging that he felt people were not aware of "how good" Charles was.

He said: "Seeing my husband really took the bride's mother by hand to sign the registry, is something that moves everyone.

"It's the things he does behind the scenes that people don't know. I don't think people realize how good he is."

Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at the age of 70 airs on BBC One at 9pm.
