CAPE TOWN – Western Cape Human Settlements MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela has condemned claims by former members of Cape Town's mayor committee, Brett Herron that city officials block social housing projects in cities.
Herron quit as a member of the council and member of the Democratic Alliance (DA) last week, claiming the party's promise to integrate society was a lie.
He went on to say some officials in the DA caucus stopped selling land for social housing projects in Salt River and Woodstock.
Failure to get a city-in social housing project from the ground has largely been placed at the foot of Brett Herron.

This seems to be a curved message from a Thursday briefing led by Madikizela.
Madikizela said many projects involved in Herron were being investigated.
"The city of Cape Town has tried to deal with construction in the city, but because the process was not well followed, almost all of the projects are now being forcibly detained. Therefore, I think it is very important for board members to ask these relevant questions ., considering the history of the project involving Brett Herron. "
He has reiterated that the development of the Salt River market will continue, but there is no clear schedule given at this time.
