Four lions were found with 'jaws and legs' removed in the Rietvlei nature reserve

Pretoria – Authorities "work all the time" to catch the suspect behind the brutal killing of four lions in a nature reserve in Tshwane.

A shocking incident occurred at the Rietvlei Nature Reserve on Thursday night.

The carcass of the slaughtered animal was found by officials on Friday morning with their lions' jaws and legs removed.

Tshwane MMC for Environmental and Agricultural Management Dana Wannenburg said in a statement that while the investigation was in the initial stages, it appeared that the lions were poisoned and that body parts were removed for "muthi" purposes.
