2019 has been a great year for smartphone enthusiasts, with premium smartphones like the Galaxy S10 and Huawei P30 Pro breaking new barriers on the market.
This is also a fantastic year for middle-class smartphone users, with devices such as the Samsung Galaxy A Series and Huawei P30 Lite providing affordable alternatives that still offer premium features.
However, 2019 still promises a number of new smartphone launches that can shake the market even more.
This smartphone can make major changes to the landscape of current and future mobile devices – whether through breakthrough features or superior values.
Here are some of the most interesting smartphone launches this year.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10
Leaks suggest that the Note 10 will be launched in three versions in the US: version 6.25 inches, Note 10+ 6.75 inches, and version 5G. It is unclear which version will be available in South Africa.
Headphone jacks may not be available on the device, while only the Note 10+ is expected to offer microSD support.
This device is expected to be announced on the Samsung Unpacked event on August 7.
Samsung Galaxy Fold
Samsung Fold Galaxy is intended to go on sale on April 26, but many lack of devices means that Samsung has delayed the release of the first folding smartphone.
Redesign is now said complete, but the second launch date has not been announced.
Galaxy Fold will compete with Huawei Fold in the foldable smartphone market, and will come in versions of LTE and 5G.
Huawei Mate X
Huawei's efforts on foldable smartphones will compete with the Galaxy Fold for market share, and are also equipped with 5G capabilities.
It sports three cameras and an 8-inch OLED screen that folds on the front and back of the device.
Huawei has delayed the launch of this smartphone until September 2019 amid problems with the United States.
Apple is expected to launch the next iPhone line in September, but this smartphone is not expected to provide a design that is very different from the current X range.
They are expected to maintain the same aesthetics and are not expected to include 5G functionality.
Some leaks suggested that the upcoming range of iPhones could include a three square camera system.
Huawei Mate 30 Pro
Mate 30 Pro is a premium smartphone that will come within the Huawei Mate range and, based on leakage from Gizmodo, it is expected to boast a quad-camera system that uses the Leica lens.
The same leakage shows that the smartphone will have 5x optical zoom, with one of the four lenses being the Time of Flight lens (ToF).
Further rumors show that this device can display a 6.7-inch QHD + 90Hz screen, 4,200 mAh battery, and 985 Kirin processor. It is expected to be launched in October this year.
